Rates For Services
The following are our standard rates. We do offer quotes on sizeable projects that can and will differ from these rates. The bigger the project the bigger the discount.
Some things to keep in mind while looking at our prices:
- The prices include labor
- Many preservation companies charge you a base fee for the project and then labor on top of it. We include it all within the packages we offer. No hidden charges.
- The prices include costs of DVD media
- Again, many preservation companies charge you extra for the media. With DVD media being almost as cheap as CD media we see no reason to charge you for it.
- We do however charge an extra $5.00 per Dual Layer DVD disc. Dual Layer DVD discs allow two things; higher quality video and longer play of video on the disc. These discs, unfortunately, are still expensive but we are giving them to you at our cost.
- Again, many preservation companies charge you extra for the media. With DVD media being almost as cheap as CD media we see no reason to charge you for it.
- Times quoted are approximations, not exact amount of time
- The reason times are approximates is that with older media types (VHS, film, etc) there can be stretching, degradation of the media, and other deterrents to an easy transfer process. There may be times where we have to import again and again to get a good version from the source. If this issue comes up we will notify you immediately (either by email or phone) and let you know a new approximate time for completion of your project. There may also be times where we cannot give a definite or approximate amount of time due to the severity of the source material.
- All packages with editing include Color Correction, Flicker minimization, noise reduction (clicks, hisses, pops, and hums), and normalization (the process of making the volume of the video as close to equal as possible).
- The "per tape" charge is either one VHS tape (up to six hours long) or four hours of other media (MiniDV, Hi8).
Direct Transfer DVDs do not come with menus. These are DVDs that play like VHS tapes but with a few extras. Once you put a Direct Transfer DVD into your DVD player it will automatically start playing the converted video. You will be able to skip ahead using chapters but you will not have scene selection. This type of transfer is perfect for those projects that don't require flashy menus and just want to watch the video itself.
Direct Transfer
Direct Transfer is the process of taking the video from the source (generally VHS tape), converting it to digital, then burning it out to a DVD. No editing is performed on the source material before putting it to DVD. This process has a 24-48 hour return time for one to three VHS tapes.
Cost: $20 per tape
Direct Transfer with Editing
This process includes the above, plus editing of the material. The editing offered in this package is minimal (censoring of curse words, shortening of video, taking out portions not wanted) and does not include higher editing. This process takes on average 72 hours.
Cost: $40 per tape
Direct Transfer with Higher Editing
This process includes the above, plus editing of the material in a higher fashion. The editing in this package includes addition of audio (such as music, voice over, etc), censoring of curse words, transitions, and titles. This process takes on average 120 hours.
Cost: $60 per tape.
Transfer DVDs do come with menus like store bought DVDs. You can choose specific scenes to watch, you do get the pizazz that comes with having menus. Menus add an extra flair to your project whether it be for an anniversary, birthday, retirement party, or a sales presentation. They show you went the extra mile.
Transfer with Menus
Where Direct Transfer is just bringing over the source video and putting it to DVD where it autoplays in your DVD player or computer, Transfer is the process of bringing the source digital and applying professional quality menus to the DVD. This package provides the transfer from source and creation of professional quality DVD menus from templates. We will create scene selection menus, titles, and all the basic menus that are on store bought DVDs. This process takes on average 48 hours.
Cost: $50 per tape

This process includes the above, plus editing of the material in a higher fashion. The editing in this package includes addition of audio (such as music, voice over, etc), censoring of curse words, transitions, and titles. This package also includes creation of professional quality DVD menus from templates. We will create scene selection menus, titles, and all the basic menus that are on store bought DVDs. This process takes on average 120 hours.

A La Carte Items are extras you can add to your DVDs to make them that much better. You can add them to any of the packages above.
Amaray Style DVD Case

These cases are regarded as the pinnacle of DVD cases by collectors and movie lovers worldwide. These cases protect your DVD, have room for inserts, a wrap-around cover with spine, and are easy to put in an end-to-end shelving system.
Cost: $1.00 per single DVD, $3.00 per Double DVD Set (two DVDs in one case)
Disc Labels
This is one area where we are really picky. There are three ways for us to label your product but only two we suggest. First way to label is with a Sharpie™ pen and clear handwriting. This is the cheapest as we do not charge for it at all. This way gives it that edgy, underground look and is perfect for a proof or backup version of a project.
The second way is with peel and stick labels. These can be of any thing you wish from normal text to full on graphics. We do provide this service but must warn customers; this is not the best for long lasting DVDs. Peel and stick labels can peel off when inside a DVD player due to heat. This can ruin your DVD player or computer. We do not offer any warranty or guarantee when a customer chooses this option.
Cost: $1.50 per label for black and white, $3.00 per label for color.
The third and best option is direct to disc printing. This is where we print directly onto the DVD itself. This offers longer life of the label compared to peel and stick. It also has no chance of peeling off and ruining your DVD player or computer drive. The look is more professional and the feel is great.
Cost: $5.00 per disc, either black and white or color.
Inlays and Inserts
Inlays are the wrap-around covers that come on all store bought DVDs. These tell the user what DVD it is, what features are on it, who stars in it, and other information. These are the best way to tell someone what is in your collection and to easily find it.
Cost: $3.00 per inlay for black and white, $5.00 per inlay for color.
Inserts are the pieces of paper on the inside of the case. If you look at the image above in the Amaray case section you will notice two clips on the left side of the case. These clips can hold either a small booklet up to 3mm thick or an insert. We do not currently offer booklets but we do offer inserts. Your insert can consist of chapter listings, promotional materials for other projects or your company, it can even be a sweet message to the recipient of your gift. These are single sheet inserts. We suggest only printing on one side.
Cost: Black and white costs $3.00, Color is $6.00.
Complete DVD Menu Creation
