Frequently Asked Questions
We have had some questions from customers that we felt we should share the answers to.
Can I supply my own media?
Yes, you can. The cost of production does not go down at as we include the media in the price. We also do a few test runs of your DVD before presenting you with the finished product. We do internal testing on our varied televisions and DVD players for overall compatibility. We then take a copy of the DVD to you (either at your home or your work) to see if you have any last minute changes (Direct Transfer package does not include this). We then burn out the final DVD.
Can I make my own labels?
Yes, you can. The cost of production does not go down if you have chosen a labeling package but you can save yourself the cost of the package by making your own labels. We, of course, suggest you let us create it for you as we have the necessary production equipment to do so in a high quality manner but we will not stop you from doing it yourself.
Can I watch you as you work?
Our offices are not open to the public at large. We do come to you at your home or business to discuss packages and what you want done with your memories. We come back to you for progress (Direct Transfer Package does not apply) for edits and menu creation along with final approval. We also pick-up your stored memories and transport them to our offices for transfer. This affords us time to work on preserving your memories and creating your projects without extra overhead or interruptions. We are appointment only due to the sensitive nature of some projects as well as the time needed to work on many projects.
Do I get my original memories back?
Of course you do. We do not keep your memories at all, they are yours and yours alone. We do make one copy of your memories (with your signed permission) to show future clients in a portfolio as well as if you want another copy of your memories at a later date. After that we destroy all digital copies of your memories.
Can you convert my memories to digital and then I create the DVD?
We most definitely will do that for you. The same rates apply as the Direct Transfer method. We will then put the resulting files onto the media of your choice. We suggest an external hard drive as digital video files are quite big. We can print to tape (miniDV) for you as well to make the process easier for you to bring into your home computer for your editing.
Who retains copyright on my memories?
You do. You own your memories, not us. We only have a copyright on any creation we put into your memories. For example, if we draw a never before created cartoon character for the cover of your DVD we retain the copyright to that character and drawing.
Do you put watermarks/promotional material on my memories?
Yes and no. By default we do have a few short promo reels that we put before your memories begin playing on the DVD. These do not last more than 30 seconds. We also put our URL (website address) on any packaging, although in a very inconspicuous placement as to not overtake your memory. We do not put watermarks over the video of your memories. You will never see a watermark on your memories from us on the video portion. We find that practice to be quite unprofessional.
What kind of warranty/guarantee do you give on projects?
We guarantee that our DVDs will be delivered in a completely working fashion. Our DVDs will work in most Third Generation DVD players and up. The later the DVD player manufacture date the better the compatibility. Why Third Generation and up? Most Third Generation DVD players can read DVD-R discs. This is what your memories will be preserved on. Later generation DVD players are capable of reading DVD-R, DVD-R DL (Dual Layer) and various other types of discs. We do offer Dual Layer DVD burning and will burn to that media if the project calls for it. (See Rates page for more information.) We cannot guarantee performance on computer DVD players as there are too many variations of system setups, software packages, and manufacturers of computer DVD players. As for disc integrity itself we will happily produce another copy for you if it is the fault of the disc or our production.
